Mass Transit is a large flip-dot sign from a city bus. This type of sign uses physical discs as pixels, black on one side and neon yellow on the other, that flip back and forth. Mass Transit displays mesmerizing patterns which periodically change.
Mass Transit speaks to the theme of Vibrant Resonance through it’s neon yellow color, and the pleasing resonant sounds it makes when the dots flip. I find the visual and auditory experience of the big array of flip dots to be kind of hypnotic. My hope is for the patterns and sounds to be fun and interesting to enjoy.
Stretch goal: a button-based interactive component where participants can influence the display.
